With site expansion projects at various stages of development across the board, the Operations team has had a busy quarter.
The Maryland team recently completed the renovation of 1789 sq. ft. of lab and seating space, which provides increased capacity for viral production along with new seating space for eight staff members. The project was successful, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Facilities, IT and Purchasing teams and was celebrated with an official ribbon-cutting welcome ceremony on April 4th. Right on time, and on budget!
Expansion is also on the horizon in Maine. In January, the Cumberland Foreside Expansion Project received LGC Group board approval and funding. The project has recently moved into its next phase with the selection of a Construction Management Partner, Landry French. All three companies that responded to our request for qualifications were impressive, with Landry French narrowly beating out the others. This decision was based on presentations by each CM discussing their approach to project management, cost controls, site planning and logistics, safety, and numerous other criteria. The schematic design phase with SMRT (architect firm) has now been completed and with the CM on board, the project will begin moving into detailed design with a tentative groundbreaking in the late summer/early fall time frame.
The expansion in Kidlington is progressing according to plan. TNAC has officially signed the new lease for Unit 3 Oxford Technology park. The next stage is the fitout, with move-in scheduled at the end of July.
In Milford, site changes have aligned with the integration of TCD USA. The integration and legal entity consolidation took a batch of coordination and collaboration across disciplines in both companies to launch according to plan. All departments (Commercial, Facilities, Finance, IT, Legal, Operations and Quality) provided data elements to migrate material master set ups, inventory, purchase orders, and sales orders into SAP ECC 6.0. The working groups did a great job uploading the data and employing a stop gap measure for customer sequestering, which is not available in SAP ECC, until a permanent solution can be developed.
While we share many of the same customers, TCD’s orders have unique purchasing and fulfillment requirements, thus providing new and challenging order fulfillment experiences. In addition to folding in new purchasing and fulfillment requirements, physical changes were implemented to facilitate successful integration. Migrating the Milford walk-in freezer from -20°C to -25°C required a revalidation of the space. To better utilize existing freezer space, the team deconstructed a mezzanine in favor of more high pile storage locations.
Below are a couple of photos leading up to the successful storage and shipment of Technopath products. Our values of Passion, Curiosity, Integrity, Brilliance and Respect were all displayed during this project. Teamwork makes the dream work!
